Anyone on Flickr, I'm having problems uploading and I wanted to know if anyone else is having problems or is it just me?
And if it is me...I wonder why I can't?

...to my amazing and beautiful friend Connor [info]ubermunkey.
I can't say enough to express how thankful and honored I am to have you in my life, munkey.
You are a force of nature, a complex and intriguing beast, a hard candy exterior with a gooey center, my favorite wooly mammoth, and so sexy you make me dizzy.
Thank you for being you.
Much love to you, handsome.

Namaste

If you could have one super power - what would it be? Actually, lets make that two super-powers. One for your own personal use, and one for the world.

For instance, if I had a super power for the world...it would be the power to create peace. Now, when I write that i certainly don't mean for there to be no conflict, or for people to be apathetic. What I would really want would be this: if there were a conflict (either between people or nations) that is get resolved in a non-violent way. At the same time, I would make sure that there was peace in the streets - no one destroying bikes randomly, no violence against animals, etc. Now, this isn't to say that I don't want meat - I think meat is a decent part of the diet - but I think it should be done as organically and humanely as possible. Free-range chicken, pigs, cattle...I think the meat would be better, and if the animal has had a good life, a natural life - I'm good with that.

now, for my personal use super-power. I'm sure I've written about this before but here it is. I have always wanted to be able to see through things...not necessarily x-ray vision, but something similar. For instance, if I see someone walking down the road, I want to have the power to look at him and see through his clothes - see what sort of underwear he is wearing, then I could decide if I wanted to look further, cross another layer. I would want this power to work not just live, but also with forms of media. For instance, if I see a photo of JFK, I would be able to do the same thing...look through a layer of his suit coat, then his shirt, etc. This skill would work with film as well...no more hoping to see more of Brad Pitt, or who ever you want to see...I'd be able to see it all. And this would be not just at certain points, but if I wanted I would be able to watch said movie star run, ride bike, whatever naked. Of course, this power would also mean i'd be able to see through walls, etc if I wanted. could be fun - no?

While reading the newspaper this past Friday morning I saw where Susan Cowsill Band was going to be performing at The Carrollton Station doing a set from the Covered In Vinyl (CIV) Series. Tonights selection was The Cars first album in it's entirety, which is one of my favorite albums, and I've never seen anyone perform any one song let alone an entire album from The Cars. I've also never had a chance to see Susan perform and I've heard nothing but great things about her. Sent out the word to everyone, and Charles [info]chasfburk (aka The Victim from a recent breakup, so the night was all about him, and he worked it. LOL!) was the only one able to attend with me (since, you know he's single now :). Picked him up and headed down to the Carrollton side of town (which is on the other side of NO from where I was last Monday). I really like this side of town too. It kinda reminds me of Mayberry. Great restaurants, bars/music venues, and shops with all the charming facades. So we had a great dinner at Squeal BBQ with Scott, then walked over a few blocks to The Station which is located catty corner to the trolley-car barn which was wide open and ripe for some pics. Crossed the street, had a few beers and soon enough the concert began. The first half was favorite covers of the bands and originals, including The Rain, The Park and Other Things which you might remember was from the her family group The Cowsills (who were the inspiration for The Partridge Family). The second 1/2 the CIV part. Fantastic! Her voice sounds like a sugar-coated version of Sheryl Crow - very strong, but fun and bubbly at the same time.

After the show we were not ready to call it quits so we headed to one of our favorite bars on St. Charles called The Avenue for a nightcap (or two).

Had a great time buddy. Hope you are "recovering" well. :)

Just saw Before Night Falls last night. Amazing movie and story, I didn't know about Reinaldo Arenas but god what a hard life and beautiful movie.
It makes me want to read the book.

In other news my friends bike got trashed by some fucker on Sunday morning, broad daylight on the main street of the city while he was inside having brunch with friends.
I don't believe in capital punishment except for useless fuckers that wreck bikes!

What is the difference between Grey and Gray? I always spell it Grey. I think it's grey-er. The "ay" version looks to cheery to me. enough on that diversion.

I finished darning the lightweight cashmere sweater... The seams were done in an eyelet fashion, so that tiny elipses of whatever was underneath would show through along the seams. Very pretty, but in a soft yarn like cashmere, disaster: anywhere there was tension on the fabric, the yarn tore..leaving gaping holes rather than cute eyelets. I restitched all the seams BY HAND thank you very much... It looks like a brand new sweater. No more eyelet seams, but it won't self distruct anymore. (and that repair work will cover my car insurance payment).

BUT...bills bills bills. I am heading to a client's to do some yard work. Clean up pays better, and they have some unbilled hours to collect on as well...so that will be a nice payment. I love doing knitwork, and it pays well enough, but there is a different mindset: I can usually cover my finances with 3-4 medium jobs/large payments a month with the horticulture, whereas with the knitting, I need to do several small jobs a week: approx 5-6 week will cover my finances. Part of me really would love to have a little shop where I do repair work and retailoring. I almost feel guilty charging for it, I love it so.

Please forgive my talk of finances...but have you ever noticed, that a lot of Jane Austen deals with Money: The Bennetts are land poor Gentry. The Elliotts have to retrench because the wastrel father has outspent his income and their cousin hopes to marry a daughter (Anne) so to gain access to some inheritance and secure his financial future against his debtors. The Dashwoods lose their home and lifestyle due to the death of a father, unfair inheritance laws, and the scheming of a avaricious (or is it greedy) sister in law and weak-willed half-brother. Mr. Willoughby married Miss Grey for her 50,000 pounds rather than Marianne, whom he loves, because he has lost his inheritance from Lady Allen due to his debauchery with the ward of Colonel Brandon. Money seems to be both the irritant and the catalyst to a life well lived.

The more things change, the more they stay the same, eh?
